It is very important to be able to receive information from shippers electronically, to meet the requirements of the Container Security Initiative (CSI). Piff Shipping has enhanced the capability of its On-line Shipping Booking System (OSBS). It addresses the stringent requirements of CSI mandated by the US Customs Service. Shippers are only requested to supply one additional piece information, with the minimum of effort. However, it ensures timely generation of cargo manifest information for US Customs.
After identifying US-bound consignees, OSBS will prompt the shipper to submit the required data, notably the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) numbers. At the same time a US Billing of Number will be generated for the shipper and consignee’s reference. Not until all mandatory fields have been entered will the booking process be confirmed. This overall arrangement simply reinforces our pledge to paperless communication between shipper and consignee, and easy access to shipping information over the internet.
